Congratulations to Isaac Siskind, 80 who set a new NJLMSC SCY record at the Connecticut Senior Games at Trinity College in Hartford, CT on May 31, 2008!

200 IM 4:38.73

6/21/08 Jeff Jotz will be running a long course practice at Rahway Park Pool starting on Monday, June 23 from 6-7:30am and running through early August.  Saturday practices are still TBA.

5/28/08 Terrapin Masters is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Terrapin Cup and 2008 Colonies Zone LCM Championships!  The meet will take place August 23-24 2008, the weekend after USMS LCM Nationals, at the Eppley Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park.

Congratulations to the following NJ swimmers who set new NJLMSC SCY records at the YMCA National Championship meet in Fort Lauderdale, FL on May 15-18, 2008!

Special congratulations to National champions Laurie DiTommaso, 45 (50 fly, 100 IM), Danielle Ogier, 55 (200 Free, 500 Free, 1000 Free, 100IM, 200 IM, and 400IM) and Larry Seidman, 60 (100 fly)!  Laurie swam faster than the existing national YMCA record in the 50 fly as did Danielle in the all six of her first place swims.  Danielle also led off the women's 55+ 200 medley, 200 free, and 400 free relays which also swam faster than the YMCA national records, while the 200 free relay swam faster than the existing USMS national record too!

For each course each year, every LMSC must submit the times from meets held in their LMSC for consideration in the USMS Top Ten tabulation. Only swimmers registered in USMS can be considered.

The "Top Ten" listings for meets held in the NJ LMSC will be posted on this website. Please note that this does not include meets held outside of NJ, even if swimmers from NJ swam in them.

4/29/08 USMS has developed a new (smaller, but very attractive and easy to assemble) display to be used to generate interest in United States Masters Swimming at your facility.  Click on the picture below to see the display currently in use at the Sussex County YMCA in conjunction with their May 3rd mini meet. This display helped the Y generate interest and their meet entries have far exceeded their expectations.

United States Masters Swimming

 

Mission Statement

 

To promote fitness and health in adults by offering and supporting Masters swimming programs.

 

Goals and Objectives

  • To encourage and promote improved physical fitness and health in adults.

  • To offer adults the opportunity to participate in a lifelong fitness and/or competitive swimming program.

  • To encourage organizations and communities to establish and sponsor Masters swimming programs.

  • To enhance fellowship and camaraderie among Masters swimmers.

  • To stimulate research in the sociology, psychology, and physiology of Masters swimming.
